Born in Porto, graduated in law from the Universidade Católica, Lisbon, in 1986. Diplome Supérieur d’Études Françaises, University of Toulouse.
Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 1987.
He joined the firm in 1987.
He heads the Commercial, Corporate and M&A Department, working in international and domestic practice centred on corporate law and international contracts, with a special emphasis on mergers and acquisitions.
He has specialized in acquisitions in Portugal and abroad by Portuguese companies, and in the negotiation and signing of joint venture agreements and other international corporate link-ups.
Much of his work has been in the telecommunications and IT, and he has also taken an active part in investment processes and operations, including the negotiation of foreign investment agreements and privatization of public sector companies and assets.
His various publications include Leasing Law in the European Economic Community, 1991, London, Euromoney Books, 2nd edition 1993 (co-author: Finance Leasing Law in Portugal), Agency and Distribution Contracts in Portugal, 1992, Chamber of Trade and Industry, Valencia (Spain), Telecommunication Laws in Europe, London, Butterworths, 1998, and Tottel Publishing, 2005 (co-author of the chapter on Portuguese telecommunications law). He has appeared as a speaker at various conferences in his specialist field in Portugal and abroad.
