Albuquerque & Associados is one of the longest established Portuguese Law Firms in the field of business law, both domestic and international. Most recently, its origin can be traced back to 1922, when the father of the founders of the current firm started up in legal practice, continuing a family tradition of legal scholarship which dates back to the seventeenth century. This tradition was continued by the two law professors who founded the firm, both university professors of law, Prof. Ruy de Albuquerque (1933-2007) and Prof. Martim Albuquerque.
Albuquerque & Associados has accumulated close to half a century’s continuous experience in legal practice on behalf of foreign clients, with a firm tradition of representing the interests in Portugal of US, French, Spanish and English corporations, as well as those of clients from most European countries and from other continents. This store of experience constitutes today one of the firm’s prime assets.
The firm has also continued to advise a broad range of Portuguese corporate clients, in various manufacturing and service sectors, as well as including banking, finance and insurance. The firm also boasts extensive experience in legal advice to governmental authorities in Portugal and abroad.
Albuquerque & Associados has also established itself in Angola, with a legal team split between Lisbon and Luanda, including an affiliated Angolan law firm.
